The Finished Patio
The patio wraps around the back of the house from the side gate to the bi-fold doors, so the whole rear elevation opens straight onto level porcelain rather than a strip of paving and a step down to grass. Levels Adjusted — No Major Dig-Out
The garden had a fall across it that could easily have meant a full dig-out and retaining walls — extra spoil away, extra brickwork, extra cost. Instead we designed the levels so the patio works with the existing gradient: the finished surface sits flush at the doors, sheds water away from the house, and meets the lawn with a clean, simple edge. Timber sleepers take up the remaining level change by the fence line. Getting the design right at the start saved the homeowner serious money without compromising the finish.

To finish the works we fitted a bespoke timber pergola, creating a defined, shaded seating area that turns the paving into a proper outdoor room — somewhere to sit out through the summer months and hang festoon lighting for the evenings. Extra sleepers were added to frame the planting and tidy the garden’s edges.
